Waukesha County Public Health and the Waukesha County Office of Emergency Management are partnering with the Wisconsin National Guard to increase COVID-19 community testing as the 2020/2021 school year begins. Eight drive-thru community test dates will be available in September. Nasal swab tests will be administered to the first 600 individuals to arrive each day.
Who can be Tested:
Wisconsin National Guard testing is available for Wisconsin residents, ages 5 years or older, and for individuals who work in Wisconsin, and who are either experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, or for those who have been in close contact with a positive case and who wish to be tested. You do not need proof of insurance. You do not need to have a primary care physician.
Pre-Register to Reduce Wait Times:
No appointment is needed, but individuals should pre-register online in order to reduce wait times at: https://register.covidconnect.wi.gov/. Pre-registered individuals will receive a QR code via email which should be brought to the test site in order to check in. Individuals who do not pre-register will be required to register with testing site staff once they arrive. Pre-registration does not guarantee a test.
Testing Site Dates, Times and Location:
All community test sites will be held at the Waukesha County Expo Center (1000 Northview Rd, Waukesha, WI) from 11 am until 7 pm on the following dates:
Week 1: Tuesday, September 1
Week 2: Tuesday, September 8
Week 3: Monday, September 14 -- Tuesday, September 15
Week 4: Monday, September 21 -- Tuesday, September 22
Week 5: Monday, September 28 -- Tuesday, September 29
Tests will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Wait times will vary, depending on the number of people in line. Wait times trend shorter at the end of the day. Individuals should be prepared to wait in their vehicles and follow instructions provided at the site. Information will be provided to individuals tested about how to receive test results after being tested.
Members of the Wisconsin National Guard will assist in conducting the tests, as well as collecting and managing the specimen samples. More information is available at www.waukeshacounty.gov/covid19.
