To: New Berlin Residents
From: New Berlin Police Department
We know that most everyone has questions about Governor Evers “Safer at Home” order. Our dispatch center and department clerks have been getting several calls, both questions about the order and complaints about “this business being open when they shouldn’t be.” We are attaching a link to the full order. It is lengthy and there are many special circumstances and exceptions. Please read it thoroughly before calling our dispatch center with questions or complaints.
Frequently asked questions about the order are answered here: https://evers.wi.gov/Documents/COVID19/Safer%20at%20Home%20FAQ%203.24.20.pdf
The link to the full order is here:

Further questions about COVID-19 or the “Safer at Home” order can be answered by calling 211. Please do not call 911 with questions about the virus or the order.
We also want to address two issues regarding enforcement of the order on our end.
As it pertains to traveling outside the home, individuals do not need special permission to leave their homes, but they must comply with this order as to when it is permissible to be out and about.
As it pertains to “essential” businesses or operations, those establishments do not need documentation or certification to continue working when it is done in compliance with the order.
We will continue to investigate each complaint on a case by case basis, but only if it is possibly in violation of the order. Again, please read it fully before calling.
It is the preference of the New Berlin Police Department to educate the public about the governor’s “Safer at Home” order and seek voluntary compliance, prior to formal enforcement action.
Thank you for your support and understanding through these difficult times. We also appreciate the donations of N95 masks and surgical mask for our officers’ protection. Better days are ahead and your police department will be here for you when you need us. Stay healthy New Berlin!
