Posted on: December 3, 2019[ARCHIVED] Mayor Ament Accepts Stop the Bleed Donation

The President of the Prospect Lions Club, Sue Neckar, presented a $500 donation to the New Berlin Stop the Bleed Program on November 19, 2019. This donation will be used to purchase additional Stop the Bleed kits for city vehicles and buildings. To date, New Berlin Police, Fire, and Emergency Management staff have trained over 150 city employees, school staff and citizens on the lifesaving skills.
Why “Stop the Bleed?” The consensus of a multi-disciplinary committee comprised of agencies from the FBI, Homeland Security, and College of Surgeons along with First Responders has determined that “uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma.” That trauma can occur at a variety of locations and events such as an industrial accident within the workplace, an injury at home, or from that unfortunate mass casualty event
Citizens interested in receiving this 90 minute training can register for classes with the New Berlin Recreation Department. Classes are scheduled for January 9th, February 10th, March 11th , April 15th and May 21st. All classes start at 6:30 pm and are held at New Berlin City Hall, 3805 S Casper Dr. For more information please call 262-797-2443 or register online at https://apm.activecommunities.com/newberlin#.
