http://www.newberlin.org/DocumentCenter/View/13295/Press-Release-announcing-winnerMayor Dave Ament is happy to announce Telesfore Wysocki as the recipient of the 2019 New Berlin Citizen of the Year Award. Ted has provided dedicated service to the City of New Berlin for over 35 years.
Ted Wysocki initially served as District 2 Alderman for 8 years (April 1984-April 1987, April 1996-April 1999, & April 1999-April 2001). He then served as Mayor of New Berlin from April 2001 to April 2005. He came back on board as an Alderman again and served an additional 3 years from April 2008 to April 2011. Although Ted ended his time on the Council, he has served on the City’s Golf Course Commission since July 2015 as a citizen member, and the New Berlin Police and Fire Commission for six years, - having recently retired from the PFC in April 2019.
He was elected to the Waukesha County Board in 2016, was re-elected in 2018 and continues to serve in that capacity. Ted serves on the Finance Committee and the Human Resources Committee.
Ted’s involvement goes beyond City and County Government. He has been an active member of Hoeppner-Horn Bros VFW Post 5716, the New Berlin Veterans Memorial Society, the New Berlin Lions Club and the New Berlin Senior Taxi. Ted also serves on the 128th Air Refueling Wing Community Council and formerly served on the 440th Airlift Wing Community Council.
As cited by Mr. Michael O’Donnell in his nomination of Mr. Wysocki, “He (Ted) is a tireless advocate for education and veterans services. He is a fixture at community activities and celebrations. He is a role model as a civic leader and tireless volunteer.” Mayor Dave Ament, in his selection of Mr. Wysocki, wholeheartedly concurred, “Ted is most-deserving of this award and it is long overdue. His contribution to the community, his years of civic achievement and involvement, and his exemplary volunteerism have made an indelible mark on the proud City of New Berlin. Ted is an honorable and dedicated citizen and an ideal candidate for this prestigious award. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ted and his entire family.”
The Mayor will present the award immediately preceding the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Individuals or groups are encouraged to attend in support of this outstanding New Berlin resident who has given tirelessly to the community.
