Mayor Dave Ament is seeking volunteers to fill various positions on the City’s Boards and Commissions. “This is a great way to get involved in the Community,” stated Mayor Ament. “The City could not function without our citizens stepping forth and volunteering their time and talents. We have a wonderful group of volunteers who care deeply about their community. I encourage others to get involved.”
Fourth of July Commission: This commission arranges and conducts appropriate ceremonies, parades, programs and firework displays for the City’s outstanding Fourth of July festivities. Malone Park is host to the City’s annual carnival, concessions, games, bands, bingo and more. Get involved and be a part of the group that makes it all happen! The group consists of up to 11 citizen members, an alderman, and the 4th of July Coordinator. Meetings are generally held at 6 pm on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Safety Saturday Committee: This committee is responsible for the coordination and organization of the City’s Safety Saturday annual event held the third Saturday of each May. In addition, the Committee provides recommendations regarding the best methods and practices in assisting and advising the Police Department and Citizens of New Berlin regarding personal safety, security, crime trends and crime prevention. The committee consists of ten citizen members, two of which may be high school student citizens of the City of New Berlin, an Alderman, and a New Berlin Police Officer This committee meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Public Safety Building on 163rd and National Avenue.
