In its continuing efforts to provide premier communications with its customers, the City of New
Berlin is pleased to announce the redesign of its website, www.newberlin.org. The newly
designed site combines a modern layout with enhanced, on-demand communication tools.
According to IT Director, Nick Roethel, “The site blends functionality with the most asked for
tools in a tasteful design. The most notable addition is the Notify Me piece allowing customers
to sign up for announcements, then receive them via email or text message.” The site features
customer-friendly controls, easy to find features such as a customizable calendar, as well as a
design that places the most requested elements on the front page.
In addition to the updated look and feel, the site offers increased access from anywhere. The city
has added a mobile presence which will allow customers to access the site from most types of
cellular data devices including iPhones, Droids and iPads. In addition, the site adds accessibility
features for the sight and hearing impaired. The site also provides easy access and full
integration to the city’s social media presence.
The website is a key element in the city’s efforts to increase communication with its residents.
According to City Clerk/Community Relations Director Kari Morgan, “…the site takes
government transparency to a whole new level.” The site builds on the on-going effort for
increased public meeting access that allows the ability to view meeting proceedings, on-demand
through interactive streaming video. The feature also allows residents to track legislative items
through their full approval process with a simple search. Residents may access this free service
by clicking on the “Minutes/Agendas/Meeting Videos” on the front page of the city website.
