Alternative Transportation Subcommittee

Overview

The Alternative Transportation Subcommittee was appointed by the mayor in 1996 and given the responsibility of developing a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the City of New Berlin. This committee agreed on a set of goals and outlined a citywide system of trails for connecting subdivisions with important destinations like schools, parks, and the library. A consulting firm was employed and funded through state transportation grants to work with the committee and write a comprehensive bicycle and pedestrian plan. This plan was adopted by the Common Council in 1999.
