Each person who owns, occupies or controls land in the City of New Berlin is required to cut or destroy all noxious weeds on that land at a time and in a manner that will effectually prevent the weed plant from maturing to the bloom or flower stage. Refer to State Statutes, Chapter 66 Section 66.0407; and New Berlin Code 137.6. For further information and photos to help identify noxious weeds, visit www.botany.wisc.edu/herbarium. This webside provides information on how to dispose of noxious weeds: www.nps.gov/plants/alien/factmain.htm. If noxious weeds are found on vacant land and the owner is not able to cut the property, the Weed Commissioner will do so. A charge of $55 will be added to the property tax bill.
