Dear Municipal Recycling Contact,
Because strings of Christmas lights cause operation problems when they come in to the County Recycling Facility (or private MRF), staff looked into other options for residents to recycle old Christmas lights. We are asking your assistance publicizing this to your residents: No Christmas tree lights in Recycling bins please. Some scrap metal recycling companies will accept and recycle them. Go to www.waukeshacounty.gov/recycling
Also MPC, the company that collects old electronics at several municipal recycling drop off sites, will accept old Christmas lights and recycle them, though the community will not receive any revenue for them.
