Winter Outdoor Activities
A variety of outdoor winter sport activities are available in the park system. Grounds will be maintained as weather and ice conditions permit. Parents are required to provide necessary supervision of younger children during all winter sport activities in New Berlin park areas.
The Ice Skating Rink is open
Cross-Country Skiing Trails are open.
Sledding Hills are open.
Cross-country skiing will be available on tracked trails at Malone Park, the Stigler Nature Area, and Valley View Park
. Trails will be tracked only when weather permits. Cross-country skiing can also be enjoyed off-trail in public park areas. The trails at New Berlin Hills Golf Course
are not available due to tree work.
A lighted ice skating rink is available for free public skating at Malone Park
. The rink is located at the sand volleyball court area, which is immediately adjacent to the northwest corner of the tennis courts. Use the parking lot near the tennis courts for closest access to the rink. If skating at night, please push the button on the northeast pole to turn on the lights over the rink. Please note that the preparation and maintenance of the ice rink is tentative due to weather conditions.
Sledding and tobogganing is permitted below the starting barrier on the northwest sled slope of Calhoun Park
. Sledding and saucers are only permitted on the southwest small-fry slope.
A small-fry hill is available for sledding at Gatewood Park
Valley View Park
Sledding and tobogganing are permitted on the open, lighted sledding hill located at Valley View Park
