How do I find out which positions are available?
The City of New Berlin posts the current job openings in the following locations: on-line at www.newberlin.org, New Berlin local cable channel 25, or call Human Resources at (262) 797-2459 or (262) 797-2452.
How do I apply for a job?
You may obtain job applications through one of the following ways: on-line, download from the Resources/Forms and Applications tab, or stop in the Human Resources Department at City Hall.
What if I'm interested in a job that is not currently available?
The City of New Berlin will accept job applications at all times. It is our policy to keep completed, signed applications on file for six months. Should an opening occur that possibly matches your qualifications and experience within that six month period, you could be considered at that time.
Does the City hire seasonal employees?
The City of New Berlin hires seasonal workers for peak periods such as summer. These positions may not be advertised, however, you will find the openings listed on this website and on the local cable channel 25. We may recruit for seasonal employment in these departments: Utility, Streets, and Parks, Recreation & Forestry.
When may I apply for seasonal positions?
For summer seasonal positions, we begin recruitment efforts in January. Typically, interviews for these positions will be set-up around spring break.

Do I have to be a resident to work for the City of New Berlin?
You do not have to be a resident of the City, but some departments may have specific distance requirements.
Is it necessary to complete an appplication, or will a resume be sufficient?
To be considered for a job opening, you must complete and return an application. Your may include your resume.
Once I complete an application, how long will it remain on file?
Applications will remain on file for six months.
Should I complete an application for every position I am interested in?
Yes
Should I follow up to find out the status of my application in the hiring process?
No. We will contact all applicants regarding their status in the hiring process. We usually contact candidates between 2 - 4 weeks after the deadline date.
How long, approximately, is the hiring process for the City of New Berlin?
Time lengths will vary depending on the position, as some positions require testing and other processes.

 

Notice to Applicants:  Wisconsin Statutes, Sections 19.36(7), 64.09(5), and 64.11(7) require public employers to treat the following items as public record:  each applicant's application, records, recommendations and qualifications except as provided in Section 19.36(7), Wis. Stats. which allows the identity of an applicant to remain confidential if the applicant requests in writing that the city not provide access to this information.   If you choose not to have this information become a public record, you must make such a request in writing to the Human Resources Department.  If you become a finalist for this position, your identity may be disclosed as required by law.
