The Department of Community Development promotes and maintains the careful and sustainable development & use of land in the City of New Berlin. To accomplish this, the Department is involved in both short and long-range planning. This effort includes reviewing and documenting development, engineering & capital infrastructure planning, comprehensive planning, economic development, land/geographic information systems, inspections, zoning/code enforcement & compliance, and disseminating this information to the public. Community Development consists of 5 divisions: Engineering Services, GIS/LIS Services, Inspection Services, Planning Services and the Water Resource Management Utility. Click here to see an organizational chart.The mission of the department is to: - Provide leadership, guidance and advice in preparing, developing, and establishing long-range strategies and standards for the development of the community;
- Establish, administer, and enforce regulations that promote health, safety, morals, comfort, prosperity, property values, and the general welfare of the City;
- Provide customer assistance to the public and creating a greater understanding of City regulations; and
- Foster planning, inspection & engineering principals, and staff development resulting in a better place to live, work, and do business.
