The City of New Berlin requires a license for dogs and cats that are five months of age or older and have had their rabies shots. You may purchase this license in person (Cash or Check ONLY) Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, at the cashier's window on the first floor of City Hall:
3805 S. Casper Dr.
New Berlin, WI 53151
License requests can also be made by mail. Simply complete the application form (PDF), send it to the cashier's office with a self-addressed stamped envelope, and the license will be mailed to you.
Starting in 2019, any renewal for dog licenses not received by March 31st will be assessed with a $5.00 late fee.
For your convenience, there is also a drop box in the lower level parking lot of City Hall. Please remember that a rabies vaccination certificate and proof of spay/neuter is required and must accompany the application. A copy is acceptable and will be returned. Staff members do not have time to call veterinarians; therefore, licenses will not be issued without the form.
On November 13, 2012 Ordinance 2490 (PDF) was passed with respect to the issue of the regulations and licensing of dogs. If you have additional questions regarding the licensing of your cat or dog, please feel free to email the cashier's office during normal working hours at (262) 797-2448.
The dog exercise area at Minooka Park is open to all Waukesha County residents. A dog license is required, and you may be asked to present your dog's tag if requested. There is no additional fee to use the dog exercise area; however, there is a park entrance fee, which can be purchased daily or annually.
